This one post almost just made me tear up, this s--- is f---ing ridiculous. Im getting nauseous thinking about the weeks of media coverage and political discourse that's headed our way. All for nothing. Except to scandalize and possibly glorify the event, give the shooter infamy, and lead to another one down the road because no policies have changed.

This thread jumped like 4 pages and I don't know what's been said but I'll expand on my first post-

We live in world that has some individuals like Zuckerberg, Bezos and Musk who possess an otherworldly and seemingly endless amount of drive and ambition. And for them it'll never be enough but ultimately that's just how they're wired.

On the flipside for every one of those types there are a million others whose ambition begins and ends with waking up, smoking pot and watching Netflix. And those people are more than content with what they have. They might b---- and complain that they want more but you d--- sure don't see them taking the actions to do so.

I don't feel the people who earned their fortunes should be punished because of other's laziness and/or bad luck.

I don't know... it's a very flawed system and it'll never be perfect but I feel that when you cap the amount of money people can earn you're potentially capping ambition as well.

And I don't want to live in a world where that happens.

What's a bad situation you've found yourself in?

Just recently with the movie theater shooting in my home town and how myself and my children were supposed to be there while it was happening, I've started thinking about how easy it is to forget how fragile life is.

Just yesterday my girlfriend and I were shopping at Lowe's when we were alerted that a gunman was in the store. We were rushed into the employee break room with other workers and customers and told very little about the situation. All I could think about was how there were no locks on the door and no escape route out of the room we were in, other than the door we entered and into the store.

I texted my mom and told her the situation and also my ex gf to tell her that I loved my children with all of my heart. The situation ended very quickly and I was cool with it up until I talked to my daughter who is 4 going on 5 and realized that I could have easily been killed, leaving behind my beautiful children and the rest of my family.

I know s--- happens all over the place worse than what I went through but when you're in it everything else feels small in comparison. My heart goes out to ppl who live like that in their day to day lives.

what in Trump's history says we should give him the benefit of the doubt?

He called for the imprisonment of his opponent.
He accused the father of another opponent of having murdered JFK.
He brags about "grabbing" women "by the p----", because he's famous and "can do anything".
He attacks private citizens on Twitter if they say things about him that he doesn't like.
He spent 5 years spreading a baseless, racist conspiracy theory that the first black President was foreign.

These are just a few examples. Think those things through and tell me he deserves the same treatment as Obama (or Bush, for that matter). Trump doesn't get the benefit of the doubt because he's a bad person.
