That thread is a bad example because 3/4 pages is pointless arguing with a r-----; however, there are quite a few old school rappers mentioned. Also, there's a 90's playlist thread with many responses, older threads with favourite albums that had quite a bit of discussion etc, you'll have to run a search for them. The thing is that without new material, you're practically asking for threads with just yt links, or one-line responses that have been done many times in many forums, so what's the point? The best bet for a first page thread featuring old rappers is probably thisBIG MARV AKA SPLITT, Fire Squad, DKC and 1 other person like this. -

You can never have too much culture.
Hip-Hop is a very young music genre compared to all the others. So when we say "old school", I'd like to think the 80s and 90s would fall into that category of old school music for hip-hop.
Like I was trying to say in a different thread, it's cool if no one wants to talk about Rakim, Big L, Biggie, Biz Markie, etc, but if you like hip-hop or you listen to it enough, then you should take the time to understand the short history of it too.Ordinary Joel, Enigma and Lamont like this. -

You can still find appreciation in the old school, timeless music is timeless music regardless. My favorite rapper of all time is Nas and he started his illustrious career in the 90s, same with other legends like Jay, ATCQ, The Roots, Common and so on that all went on to have legendary careers. But I can understand the sentiment that not all of us grew up on that time, I was barely starting elementary when Biggie passed away so theres that factor of remembering the music that you grew up to. Nowadays we have a ton of talent that can be easily appreciated along with respecting the classics that paved the way.Disclosure, Peter Parker and cdbleb like this. -

Sure they are. It's ok to admit that Kanye isn't #1 in everything. He's a decent artist, but he's not in the same league (Technically speaking) as those guys. -
