May 24, 2016 This is why religion is bs. Christianity assumes your existence by default is deserving of eternal suffering. Despite the one giving that punishment being the one who made you that way. Not saying that 'God' doesnt exist, but all religions on earth are man made, which is why the bible is ambiguous and self contradictory if not outright fictional. Which is why 2000 conflicting denominations spring up. Its a ancient method of social controlled which has weaseled its way into our institutions and modern society.

Based on this short description of my beliefs can I say I'm an agnostic theist? I don't think it fits the criteria. In general, those infographics you posted are really poorly made imo.
May 24, 2016 i don't mind the definition of god, what i dont like is the moral stiffening and the 'historical context'. The world is NOT 6000 years old. The same theories that has cured multiple cancers and created the nuke proves this. Religious theorists base thier studies off their holy books without any experimental data to back it up. When science directly contradicts your religious book, then the whole thing can be called off as bs. If god was so uniquely infinite, then i doubt human words could describe such a being, much less an obviously human written book. 'god' would have at least made it more consistent no? OP should do whatever the f--- she feels with regard for the consequences, and not the indoctrinated s--- about burning in h--- (loving god and all) but the real world consequences, and once you can accept those, then you can move foward in anything you wish
May 24, 2016 i don't believe in any specific gods and flat out believe all of mans religions are wrong/bs and based on gods that can't and don't exist, and while i don't outright believe in some higher power to have created things, i believe the potential is there for there to be some form of a 'god', but not in the traditional sense and i don't think we'd ever know what it was or that it truly existed. and i don't believe it'd be some sort of all knowing/controlling omnipotent being.
May 24, 2016 By saying higher power I meant a 'god' in the non-traditional sense. I also truly believe the whole story behind the "god" will be known after we're dead. My mind can't fathom the fact that there could be nothing, like my consciousness stops existing in the blink of an eye? What the f---? It's very illogical to me.
May 24, 2016 Ah well I hadn't read the thread so maybe that added more context to that, but either way we're on the same page with that then. It actually seems logical to me because it's just the same as before we were born. We didn't exist, we weren't conscious and we didn't mind. The same seems to be the logical outcome for when we die. Though if I remember correctly from some articles/documentaries, there is an 'afterlife' of sorts. Our brains supposedly flood themselves with the chemicals that make us dream at the time of death so... make of that what you will...
