    Not necessarily what food is 'from' where you live, but what kind of food could you bank on being great if you stopped into a random hole-in-the wall joint?

    For example: in Seattle, you can pretty much always count on good and cheap teriyaki or pho no matter where you are. If the building looks like it's about to be condemned, it's probably delicious.
