Jul 9, 2026 at 8:23 PM Wreckless - Three Layers of h--- Favorites: Envious, GAS STATION, I Remember RIPPER ROO’S RATING: 10/10!!!!!! One surprise right off the bat with this tape was finding out just how many songs I knew that I didn’t know I knew. I thought nearly all of these tracks would be new to me but I actually knew CRUISING TO SELF SOOTHE, GAS STATION, I Remember, Tell Me Why, Sex & Candy, Shine, and Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town. Besides the Slayyyter track which I’ve been listening to recently, I haven’t heard these tracks in a while so it was nice to revisit them as they are very good. I know CRUISING TO SELF SOOTHE because it’s in WWE 2K26 lol. Like I said before I listened to the tape, I thought the three layers thing was a creative and unique idea that separates this from the other tapes. All three layers work well as they have distinct vibes from one another especially the second layer. It almost feels like that layer was made specifically for me because it has the dance tracks in it which is more in my wheelhouse than the rock tracks in layers 1 and 3 lol layer 2 basically contains all my favorite songs from the tape. The other layers here are good too though. There’s not a single song here I disliked. One thing that really stuck out to me about this tape is that strong female vocals were really prominent throughout which I really appreciate. Love Bites (So Do I), Envious (what a f---ing bop I can’t believe I haven’t heard), and Violet especially stick out to me as the songs with the strongest female vocals. I gotta say this is Wreckless’s best tape yet. It feels very well put together, has a dope concept, has strong vocals especially on the female front, and has decent variety while still staying within the theme that has been set up. This clicked with me on first listen way more than any of his other tapes have and is well deserving of that 10/10. @AOTWClub

Jul 11, 2026 at 12:47 PM Not sure is this is just an issue on my end (I don't think it is since I just used Ripper's link and it worked), but Wreck's tape is showing up as deleted/privated through the link
Jul 11, 2026 at 4:22 PM It was set to private for some reason. I switched it to public. Thanks for pointing it out!
Jul 11, 2026 at 5:26 PM (Forum is tripping as I'm writing this, so I hope it doesn't get lost in an error message lmao) Wreckless - Three Layers of h--- I think that the tapes we make mix pretty well usually. Whether it be a specific mood, era, or in this round's case, season, I feel like we've all done pretty well when it comes to making our tapes work as a whole. It's due to this that I was really interested by Wreck's decision to split this into three sections. Aside from the Hole and QOTSA songs, I was basically going in completely blind for this tape, so I didn't really know what to expect. -First Section "CRUISING TO SELF SOOTHE" was a pretty nice intro, and "Cut Back" was pretty dope too. "Crystallize" and "Silver Swarm" were decent, but didn't do much for me unfortunately."Love Bites (So Do I)" was pretty good tho, and "Try Honesty" was okay. - Second Section I was gonna do a track by track for this section as well, but since it's pretty short, and my opinion on all 4 songs is pretty similar, I'll keep it short. The songs in section two are fine, but they didn't really grab me as much as the high points of section 1 did. -Third Section "Violet" is great!!! One of my favorites off of Live Through This. I didn't think I knew "Sex & Candy" by the title alone, but I've def heard it before. It's great as well! I enjoyed "Shine" and "Elderly Woman..."a little less than the first two, but I still dug them. "Go With the Flow" is awesome, and "Freakin' Out" is a decent outro. As a whole, I'm a bit mixed on Three Layers of h---. While I did really enjoy some songs in the first, and had a pretty good time with the third, parts of the first, and the second section didn't really hit me. In regards to 2, it is shorter than 1 and 3 so it doesn't affect the enjoyment too much, but it's definitely still a factor. Still big thanks to @Wreckless for the tape and yeah.
