    lol

    How are your feet Michael?

I ran a lot for a long time & My experience was fine, though I had pain like never before in my feet after my first great big race.

I guess that could be true, and mileage definitely can give you Calluses and blisters, but if you're training for distance you learn what parts of your feet to protect and there are quite specific fixes for hotspots, Like little sleeve toe protectors and more skin and blister pads and all kinds of stuff. Also the quality of your shoes matters a lot, and distance runners tend to spend on decent shoes and socks. You don't get foot problems if you are conscientious!

And the other hand if you're not running a lot of distance regularly, you might not want to pay a lot for socks or running shoes you wear. I could see that causing a lot of problems.

I never paid less than about $130 for Running shoes. They aren't cheap and they need to be replaced a lot because they break down within a few hundred miles, and not all shoe brands are created equal

    Socks same

Michael and I have a passionate bonding on who can use the name in full but I'd like you to also be allowed to call him Michael.

As long as you always used different pairs of socks and each individual run, then i think ones feet should be fine. I'm just a little worried about Michael since I know he always used to like to wear the Michael Myers socks during runs. He had this special pair with big bold letting of the name MYERS all in caps. Anyway, @Michael Myers do you still use these socks when you run? I know you referred to them as special.... Kind of like the special a--- kicking Kruger would give MM if they ever met up. But I'm drifting away from the topic now.

Oh and Carol yes I know all about blisters on the spine of the foot or better yet where the leg ends and the heel begins, you know where I mean? Used to get them there when doing sports but like you said nothing some blister plasters wouldn't stop

Yeah I usually play (european) football every week and I run 2 times. But with the season break I try to run 3 times a week to keep in shape and be fully ready for when it starts! I've been pretty active the last few years.

And I also try to do some workouts 2 days a week (at home). Maybe a bit obsessed lol however during weekends idgaf and just eat and drink whatever I want.

    Hows running going for you?

@Carol Sturka @BIGFOOT my feet are fine!

We don't have actual hills here so nah but sometimes on vacation I do try to find a challenging route.

Oh don't be sorry Michael told me he wants you to also call him Michael. I think @Ricky also calls him Michael. All in the Michael family now.

Yeah blisters aren't good. I was getting often at one points until I got some proper blister plasters.

Nice one, play at a decent level? Must be starting your pre-season soon with your team - depending on the level obviously!

I mean if you're going to be obsessed with anything, fitness / your health isn't the worst thing - nothing wrong with keeping yourself in shape. Good for the mental health too (unless you're in the last km of a run and are oh deaths door!)

Yeah it's good - started because I wanted to shift a bit of timber before my wedding and carried on since then. Only do 5k's but am happy with the progress I've made since starting - try to fit 3 in per week if I can!

No level at all lmao just a team with friends having fun. During the matches we are very serious though. No pre- season just a BBQ to start the season lmao

True, obsession is a strong word maybe though as I don't do it 7 days a week. And its def true that it works in many ways: I sleep 10 times better which means I'm almost never tired, also great for mental health. Plus I drink a lot less alcohol (kind of dumb to do after a run / workout) which leads to less snack food you usually eat then. Lots of positive side effects!

Never really had trouble finishing a run except one time it was 29 degrees C (it was a race in my town) that s----d a--- lol. Finished it but it was so hot and hard to breathe. But usually I end up still having energy left.

What's your time for 5km now? I also started with 5 at first but there were a few nice races in the forrests and at the beat that were 9 or 10km.

If you do that 5km seems like a piece of cake after lmao even if it's totally different; setting records is a nice goal!

Sounds a good set up - football with friends is great!

Yeah, I stopped drinking alcohol about a year and a half ago and don't regret it - so many health benefits + there's no regret the next morning lol.

Fuuck, running a race in 29 degrees heat? No thanks hahaha! Think I'd struggle with the humidity, would feel like I was sucking in soup rather than air!

Emm 5k PB is 19 mins 20 sec. Trying to work down to sub 19 but it's tricky sticking to a proper program so I end up just running a 5k / interval training. What about yourself? I'd love to, if I had time, to run 10k's because, as you've said, it would make running a 5k feel like a piece of cake but can't find the time at the moment! You got any plans to run further (half marathon / marathon?)

Not weather precisely, but smoke from wildfires here was as thick as pea soup last week. Crystal clear now, with wind and temps like September, huge improvement.

The hail in our area a few days ago was unbelievable. I wish I could post a picture my brother-in-law took without having to put it up somewhere first... he filled a gallon ziplock freezer bag with1.5 inch (about 5-6 cm) diameter hail,

I've never seen anything like it

That is very good! As a teen I had like 18 minutes but now (early 30's) my record this year was 20.40 so still pretty good! Not as good as your time though!

I do drink alcohol still but not as much. Once a week mostly.

Marathon probably not. Because you also have to train that long. 10km is a max for me, maybe 15.

And if there's a nice semi marathon in a great city I'd consider it but probably stick to 5 - 10.

You got any of those goals 4 the future?
